KIM CARLINO

I can't stop staring at the work of mixed-media artist Kim Carlino. Like abstract explosions of beauty and color hinting at cosmological beginnings. Full of color, pattern and geometry, I'm smitten by her use of materials and interesting color and texture combinations.
"I am interested in the myriad contradictions, opposites and contrasts that arise through human relationship to the constructed world, of which we are only a blip on the greater scale of time, and the natural world we inhabit. There is a desire to dominate the various physical and fictional landscapes that we encounter. My work playfully engages this dilemma seeking co-existence through shifts of scale, opticality, illusion and disillusion of space and a nonlinear construction of time." - Kim Carlino

Also really enjoyed her recent studio visit featured by Fresh Paint Magazine. Check it out here.
